Middle East War Escalates as US and Israel Intensify Attacks on Iran
Tensions in the Middle East continue to rise as the conflict involving Israel, Iran, and the United States enters another critical phase. Pete Hegseth, the US Defense Secretary, warned that American “firepower over Iran is about to surge dramatically” as Washington increases its military operations targeting Iranian drone and missile systems.
At a White House event, Donald Trump stated that the United States is striking Iranian drone and missile facilities “every single hour.” Meanwhile, Israel’s military leadership confirmed the country is “moving to the next phase” of the war, signaling a potential expansion of military operations against Iranian targets.
Evacuation efforts are also underway for citizens caught in the conflict zone. The first plane chartered by the government of the United Kingdom to evacuate its citizens from the Middle East has safely landed in London. The flight brought home British nationals who had been stranded as tensions intensified across the region.
Israeli forces have launched new strikes targeting the Iranian capital Tehran and areas in Beirut, Lebanon. Earlier, long lines of vehicles were seen in southern Lebanon as Israel warned residents to evacuate from potential conflict zones.
Inside Iran, civilians say daily life has become increasingly difficult. Several Iranians told the BBC that the situation feels “tiring” and that many people feel “trapped.” One resident described the fear of hearing explosions and feeling his house shake during airstrikes.
Meanwhile, authorities in the United Arab Emirates issued an emergency alert urging residents to seek shelter. The UAE Interior Ministry confirmed that the country’s defense systems intercepted six Iranian missiles and 131 drones earlier during the escalating tensions.
In response to the growing regional instability, Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, announced that four fighter jets would be deployed to Qatar to strengthen security and support regional defense efforts.
